Since the foundation of Bibelseminar Bonn (BSB), we have been continually confronted with one problem: the volunteers in our churches often desire the opportunity to enroll in a theological studies program but due to financial, family, or professional obligations are unable to enroll in full-time course work at Bibelseminar Bonn. This helped us to see the need for designing a Distance Learning Program.
In order to enroll in BSB’s Theological Distance Learning Program, we expect that students will be at least 18 years of age, will have a clear commitment to Jesus Christ, and will be actively involved members of their local church.
In order to successfully complete this program, a student must be able to grasp spiritual and intellectual contexts. The completion of a ten-year secondary education program is also a considerable help for this program of study.
Continual individual study (app. 6-8 hours/week) and timely completion of assignments is expected from every student.
For each credit hour, one should expect 30-45 hours of work. Students who spend an average of 6-8 hours per week require approximately 5 weeks for each credit hour. At this rate, it is possible to complete the requirements of the Distance Learning Program in 3 years. Through participation in intensive courses at Bibelseminar Bonn, the completion time for the Distance Learning Program can be shortened. The duration of study for each course is clearly defined. The regulated study duration is aligned with the number of credit hours. A student is given a maximum of 10 weeks to complete each credit hour. Thus, a course with 3 credit hours may last for 30 weeks of study. Students who require more time for a particular reason must meet with the Academic Dean in regard to this matter. Otherwise the student is obligated to re-pay the course fees. The previous study material can then continue to be used.
Throughout the course of the Distance Learning Program, the student always has the opportunity to seek advice at Bibelseminar Bonn. The Academic Dean or responsible professor is available for this purpose.
