Seminary Program

Since 2005, Bibelseminar Bonn offers a two-year master’s level theological degree in cooperation with our partner school: Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (SWBTS). SWBTS is an internationally recognized academic institution located in Fort Worth, Texas (USA) with six departments and currently some 3800 students. Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary belongs to the Southern Baptist Convention, a 15 million member denomination with an evangelical profile.

Goal of this Program

This seminary program should prepare students for leadership responsibilities in both Christian church and mission work. Therefore, the relaying of theological knowledge and the application of this knowledge to everyday church life are closely connected. Each student, in addition to his/her studies, takes his/her service in the church seriously, and following the second semester of studies completes an internship in the church or on the mission field.

Curriculum

This seminary program offers an additional 2 years of full-time studies for Bible school or university graduates. Part-time students also have the opportunity to take part in individual courses. The complete program of study is built upon individual units of study. Through our partnership with SWBTS, there is also the possibility of taking individual courses in the summer or a complete semester at the main campus in Fort Worth, Texas (USA).

The lectures and seminars each include 45 hours of lecture, are biblically oriented, and have an emphasis on practical theology.

Entrance Requirements

We require at least a three-year Bible school education (B. A. equivalent) or a completed university level education. Applicants with another academic degree must demonstrate theological knowledge and a basic knowledge of Greek. We expect that every applicant is the member of a Christian church and is actively involved in volunteer church service.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees currently amount to 170 Euros per month.

Qualifications

Upon successful completion of the degree requirements, the student will receive a certificate from BSB. Those who have taken courses in the seminary program will have those credits officially recognized by SWBTS. Students who additionally complete their Master’s Theses will also receive the USA recognized title of Master of Arts in Theology (M.A. Th.) from SWBTS. This degree completion would also qualify graduates for postgraduate and/or doctoral studies.
